Our topic for the visual statement is depression and some ways how to cope with it. It was more important to my team than me. The three other people in my team had all experienced some kind of depression. The requirements for this project were to make a 2-3 minute video on something that you feel strongly about. Joshua Keale-Ho and I were the actors and voices of our video. Edouard Gendron edited the whole video and also helped film along with Seth Warden.
I didn't really do much of the editing at all but I did observe Edouard and learned a couple things. We used the blade and cut tool a lot to cut out bad parts of the footage. It is important to use FCPX to stay organized and so that you can see what clips you have and what you don't have. It is really important to adjust you audio levels so that the sound is in between -6 and -12. If you don't balance your audio levels than some clips or voiceovers will be louder than others which doesn't sound good. I think both our visuals and audio had some good parts and bad parts. We ran out of ideas and time for filming so we had to rush and those clips were not very good.
Our biggest challenge was not using our time wisely and we had lots of disagreements. Once the project got going and we understood it more we were able to use our time better. Edouard and I had two different visions for the project so we often disagreed but later learned to work together good. Edouard Gendron and I were the driving force to get this done but Joshua was a huge help too. Seth didn't do much to complete the project but he provided good ideas. My favorite part of this project was making the soundtrack and recording the voiceover.
