ACO 5.0- Coding Altino Cars

Coding is an important thing to learn even if your not going to be programmer because so many things now are becoming automated. In challenge #1we were asked to code the Altino cars so they could do a figure eight shape. We had to go around obstacles and start and finish in the same place. We made it turn but every 1.2 seconds we made the wheels straighten so we wouldn't cut corners. We had to make lots of small adjustments to make it work. It was a little difficult since you had to change things so much and test them but we got the hang of it.

For challenge #2 we used new commands to make the lights flash and the sirens go off like an ambulance. I know that if a company produced a autonomous vehicle it would go threw so much testing that would ensure it was safe. I would like to see what it is like to get a ride in an autonomous car. I'm guessing that they probably will not have self-driving emergency vehicles because they still need real people to carry out the tasks.

ACO 3.0- Art & Design

In my line drawing photo I used lots of line and value. I used line to make up most of the drawing and make it clear what objects are in my photo. I used value and shading to make it look more realistic. Using value can make an object appear to be 3D. If you use a smaller brush and overlap it the outcome is better the if you just use a bigger brush. My favorite part of drawing digitally is the tracing and outlining. I also like to do the shading using a size 5 brush at a 75% hardness. The most challenging part of this for me is drawing straight lines or keeping steady. I think with practice I will become better at this and will be more smooth.

My landscape image was taken in New York City over the summer when I went there to visit family. The line drawing doesn't have as much detail as the landscape one. My landscape photo also has a lot more shading and a much broader scale of value. I used the more advanced method to refine my landscape photo.  The outcome of the more advanced way was a little harder but the outcome was really good. It looks a lot more like it was hand drawn and it has a paper texture. My photo turned out how I wanted it to look.

My portrait photo is of my brother in front of a sunset out on a boat. We were on a dinner boat tour going down the Na Pali for my grandmas birthday. My final image has lot of contrast, so many different light and dark spots. It is easy to finds place to put value and texture. The portrait photo also has a lot of line, color, and perspective. My critique results were very good. 14 people graded my mix photo as expert. I spent the most time on this one and used the most amount of texture value. I agree with my critique results,  I think I did pretty good on the mix and was very thorough.

ACO 5.0- Audio Production

Intonation and inflection can be used to maintain interest of your audience by putting emphasis on different things and fluctuating your voice depending on what your saying. Listening to a monotone voice makes it hard to get and stay interested. My role in the Audio Production assignment is the script writer. This job requires me to write the script for our radio personality. The rehearsal process is very important so that the final project is very thorough. Before we can start recording we need to finish writing our script. Once we've finished our script we are going to need to rehearse our script. We need to become comfortable and confident reading our script.

Our critique results were great, no one voted less then a 2/3.  The class seemed to enjoy and understand our content very well. I also think our team was able to meet most of the requirements. We communicated our message while keeping our audience still interested.  It was a little hard to get started and come up with our first ideas. Once we got a couple ideas the rest came pretty easily. It was also hard to speak all of our lines clearly, but we practiced and rehearsed to perfect it as good as we could. If I was going to do this project again with the same people, I think it would have turned out better if we used a better microphone and spent a little more time cleaning or editing it.

ACO 6.0- Proprietary Information

The FCC (Federal Communications Commission) is an independent U.S. government agency that regulates communication by radio, television, satellite, cable, and technological innovations. Copyright infringement is the use of material made by someone else which is protected by copyright law. On your first copyright offense, you can get a fine from $30,000 up to $250,000 depending on the severity of the copyright. On the second offense, you get charged a fine, as well as jail time. Getting a permission agreement isn't always very easy. First, you must determine if you even need permission, and if so find the owner and what kind of rights you need. Then, you need to contact the owner and negotiate whether payment will be required and get your written permission agreement. Fair use of copyright information is using less then 30 seconds of another persons material. For example quoting a few lines from a Bob Dylan song in a music review or summarizing and quoting from a medical article on prostate cancer in a news report.

Confidentiality is keeping or being kept secret or in private. For example, you should keep your social security number private. It is also good to keep your phone number and email address private and only share with people you know to avoid spam/junk email. Social media can be very dangerous to confidentiality because it is very easy to share information an photos. People might not realize the real dangers of sharing personal information or they do it accidentally. I think that things on the internet should be censored to a certain point.  People should have the right to have privacy until they start doing things that could harm others.  I believe people should be able to do what they want on the internet, as long as it only affects them as an individual. People have the right to there own privacy.

ACO 6.2: Examine ethical issues in arts and communications to make appropriate decisions related to clients, co-workers and society.

ACO 2.0- Market Shifts

A market is one of the types of infrastructures where different companies, groups, or people exchange. With the advancement of technology the way that companies market products has changed drastically. For example, you used to see the news through the newspaper, but now you see everything on TV, or even your phone. There are apps now for most of the news channels so you can view everything directly. Most apps also have notifications so you get the news as they happen and don't even have to open your phone or turn on the TV to see the news. Markets have changed so much and continue to change as more and more technology is developed. It used to take multiple hours to take and develop a photo. Now most people have a camera in there pocket that can take photos and view/share them instantly. The quality of photos has also increased tremendously, adding color and depth perception. The markets will continue to change and advance to smarter, easier, and faster ways.

Originally, I decided to take AC Core just because I like to do artistic things. Now, I've decided I would like to learn more about digital media and music production. I realized I really like making art and I also use technology a lot so digital media sounds like I would like it. Recently, I really started liking music and want to learn more about production and stuff like that. Digital media has lots of new jobs because of the increase in technology and companies need designers. I also think that music producing could really get you somewhere if you meet the right people and get signed off for popular artists. There are lots of people who are trying to be rappers and want to buy beats. As technology advances and more things become digital, there are going to be more opportunities for people trying to find a digital design career.

ACO 2.1 Analyze how shifts in market affect changes to media and design.
ACO 2.2 Evaluate how changing communication needs of a market are addressed by media and design.
ACO 2.3 Propose media and design solutions that address the changing needs in global markets

ACO 4.0-Communication Strategies

My communication with people changes a lot with different people and groups. When I'm at school talking to my teachers I use a lot of different words and phrases then I do when I'm with my friends or family.  When I talk to my teachers I talk more formal and don't use bad language or slang. While I am around my parents I am very comfortable, but I don't use that much bad language and slang. I'm most comfortable talking with my friends because I know I won't get in trouble or be judged. I think when I'm talking to my teachers at school I could tell them more of my opinion and what I want and feel. I think I feel less comfortable talking to my teachers because I've only known them for a short amount of time and they are usually strict and won't let things by.

I'm not quite sure what I want to do with the rest of my life yet. I am interested in arts/graphic design, engineering/building, athletics, music, and other interactive careers. I'm mostly interested in these types of careers because I'm very creative and like to do hands on things. I need many different types of communication skills for these interests. I need to work on teamwork because in construction, sports, and sometimes arts/music you need to work with others effectively. I think it's also very important to be able to clearly communicate over technology since things are advancing so quickly.

ACO 4.2: Use effective oral, written, and non-verbal communication skills to facilitate positive interactions.
